Scratch by Jealous Itch – Album Review

Scratch debut album by Jealous ItchJealous Itch formed in November 2008 and managed to play support for Def Leppard a mere seven days later! This was thanks to the tremendous amount of talent the band members bring to the table. Anton Jelicich, guitarist from the amazing ‘Stonehenge’ brought his fantastic axe skills. While Sean, Grant and Devlin provide the vocals as well as guitar and bass. That’s right, three vocalist that all have the stage presence of any professional front man. And let’s not forget the infamous Dave on drums who provides a great backing for the rest of the band. These guys were destined to become one of New Zealand’s leading Rock bands.

Recently Jealous Itch released their debut album ‘Scratch’. Right from the first riff of the first track ‘Something about Tradition’ I knew I was in for a good ride. The music is pure rock with production values that are unmatched with current upcoming kiwi bands.

Unlike other albums that are a mix of a few good singles and a bunch of B sides, ‘Scratch’ consists of 10 strong tracks. ‘Bad From The Good’ the 3rd track is foot stomping anthem that is bound for plenty of rotation on head bangers iPods.

Speaking of heavy rotation ‘The Reward’ the fifth track on the album has been a companion to me on my drive to work for the past two weeks. It’s catchy lyrics and consistent drum beat has me hooked. For some reason it also reminds me of my youth and listening to ‘Head Like a Hole’ (HLAH) for the first time.

All in all this album is a must get for all you long haired air guitar strumming, head banging rockers. Lucky for you, it’s should be pretty easy to find in all JB Hi-Fi stores, online in the iTunes store or at the official Jealous Itch website.

Jealous Itch was nice enough to send me a two signed copies of their album Scratch to give away. If you are interested in winning one of these albums then just leave a comment below. Remember to fill in your e-mail so that I can contact you if you win!

Hey, I listened to the podcast and really liked Jealous Itch. I also listened to the other shows with them on. I have to say my favourite track is Something about Tradition. It would be great to win a copy of their latest album so that I can hear the rest of it!
